The smartest way of reducing the itch and inflammation is by placing an ice cube on the area. If you feel really cold, then you can also use an ice pack or place a barrier cloth. But at least make sure that the ice cube is in contact with the skin for 10 minutes. Just after doing this you will find a visible decrease in size. Much like ice, a tea bag soaked in cold water cuts down the blood flow to the skin surface that helps in taking down the swelling and itchiness. The tea leaves contain a compound known as tannin that reduces the swelling. However, the maximum amount of tannin is in black tea. All you need to do is dip a tea bag in super cold water and remove excess liquid to apply the tea bag on the bump for 10 minutes.
Aloe Vera has multiple benefits, it even works great for treating a mosquito bite. The antiseptic properties in aloe vera help to reduce itching and swelling. Apart from that, it helps in faster healing. All you need to do is find some fresh aloe vera gel or even the OTC ones would do and chill for 15 minutes and rub on the bump for relief.
