Honestly “BE HONEST” is the worst advice you can give to someone. I can give you the reason for this (as I have some valid points) see without complicating things I would say in simple words that people hate an honest person. For instance, you were gossiping about someone and then one of your mates says you are a “gossip queen”. After that, you would start avoiding that person or be a little rude to them. Well, not your fault it is a human tendency we like giving advice about honesty, truthfulness and etc but honestly, we all like the truth that is as per our convenience.
Why does this happen? The big question right!! This is because either we are in denial or avoiding anything and everything that is harsh to us. Going back to the instance, that person did not say anything wrong; you were being a gossip queen. So my question is why to be rude or avoid that person, just because you were immature to accept the truth? Well, people deny or avoid anything that causes pain. Fair enough as we all have our unwanted subscription of getting hurt and tolerating pain, we don’t want more. But what we need to understand is that sometimes accepting the truth is not going to harm you.
So next time, if someone advises you to “BE HONEST” just ask them a simple question that I should be honest as per your convenience or you really want me to be honest?
P.s this would leave them in a state of confusion for a while so utilize that time to run after clicking a really funny picture of them.
