She played her first Indian national cricket match in 1999 at the age of 17 playing for Ireland in Milton Keynes and won by scoring 114 Runs. In 2001, she played cricket against South Africa. |
At the age of 19, she set a new world record for the highest score of female cricket players in a test match. By surpassing Karen Rolton’s world record of 209 runs she scored 214 runs. |
In 2005, Captain Mithali helped the Indian team reach the finals of the IC Women’s Cricket World Cup but lost to Australia in the final. The tournament shows the resilience of the Indian team in world cricket. |
In 2006, Under her captaincy, Team India won against the series in England for women for the first time. That same year, India won the Asia Cup without losing a single game. |
Mithali Raj became the second player to surpass the 5500 Runs in ODI cricket in 2017 and also set the record for cricket scoring most of India’s games in all three ODI, Test, and T20 types. |
She played for the home circuit of Railways along with actors Purnima Rau, Anjum Chopra, and others. Mithali’s nickname is “Tendulkar of Indian women’s cricket” after leading the way in scoring in all three formats in India. |
