Caring for a newborn baby is not easy. There is so much to consider when it comes to the well-being of your baby. Fortunately, we live in an era where we have a plethora of baby products to help us in this beautiful as well as challenging journey.
Here is a list of 10 Newborn Baby Products that a Mom must have with her:
Diapers
No guessing on this one. I believe diapers are the most important product ever created for the benefit of a newborn and a new mother. I don’t know how mothers of older generations survived without it. The amount of pee or poop a little baby produces is huge and you’re going to need lots and lots of diapers in the first year of motherhood. So having a good supply of diapers handy is always necessary. Now the question is which brand of diapers is suitable for your baby? This is something you will find out by trial and error. For my baby, Pampers and MamyPoko pants are two brands I found best suitable.
Wet wipes
Wet wipes are the lifesavers of new moms, they are as important as diapers. Newborn babies create a lot of mess, so wet wipes become your go-to cleaning resource. Just make sure the wipes you are using are free of chemicals that could harm your baby’s delicate skin.
Feeding Pillow
New-born babies feed many hours a day, especially in the initial months after birth. So holding your baby in your arms for longer periods becomes regularity. It can be uncomfortable and can cause your arms and back pain. That’s where a feeding pillow can be very useful. The feeding pillow makes it easy for you to hold your baby comfortably in the right position for feeding. It helps release strain on your arms.
Baby Carrier
If you are in a nuclear family, the baby carrier is going to save you a lot of trouble. Newborn babies like to be held a lot. If you are the only one in the home with work and other chores to do, baby carrier helps you hold your baby close and free your hands to do all that. It also comes handy when going out of the house, whether it’s for a walk or grocery shopping.
Diaper Bag
A diaper bag is a place to store everything you need for your baby in one place you are out of the house. It’s a must-have for storing diapers and wipes, but also for other necessities like a change of clothes, pacifiers, bottles, toys, etc. all at one spot.
Baby Finger Brush
It is essential to regularly clean your baby’s mouth. A baby finger brush is a soft silicone brush that you can wear on your finger and clean your baby’s mouth easily. Alternatively, you can also use a soft cotton cloth or gauze. But I suggest using a baby brush, as it’s easy to use and clean. It also helps in massaging baby’s teething gums.
Baby Nail Clipper/Scissor
You will be surprised to know how fast a newborn baby’s nails grow. Cutting nails from those delicate hands is not easy. You are always scared of hurting your baby. A baby nail clipper or scissor can make it easier for you.
Teethers/Pacifier
Once your baby starts teething, he would gnaw or chew anything he can get his hands on. Teething causes swollen and tender gums that can cause pain and itching. Teethers can help your baby with such discomforts as it soothes your baby’s gums. Make sure you clean these things regularly to prevent any infection.
Plastic/Rubber Sheets
Since you can’t put your baby in diapers 24×7, these sheets help you with protecting your bedsheets and clothing. It can also be used while giving a massage to your baby or a sponge bath.
