When a woman is pregnant or when they are back to work after having a baby, they are fired from their workplace. Many employers used to fire women from their workplace immediately in the low-wage sector when they get to know that she is pregnant or having a baby.
They fire women just because they are pregnant and treating them worse than the other workers, it has been illegal since 1978, in the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. There are still so many employees who still do this.
When women are treated unfavorably because of her pregnancy, it’s illegal. It’s illegal to harass or discriminate woman who is pregnant or having some medical condition related to their pregnancy or childbirth. She is not allowed to work as she is not in a proper condition to work hard.
Under (FMLA) Family and Medical Leave Act, a pregnant employee has right to express milk under a provision of the Fair Labor Standards Act
A company is not going to afford the employee with heavy responsibilities on them. a parent has so many responsibilities onto them as they have to take care of their family and their child. A pregnant lady took parental leave for one year, then she will not be allowed able to re-join as an employee because now she is the mother of a young child. This discrimination is illegal but it is still happening in some of the areas.
Parenting Discrimination Laws
Under (FMLA) Family and Medical Leave Act, a woman or a new parent can take leave for 12 weeks for her child’s care. For this, an employee must have worked for the employer for 12 months or a year prior to taking leave. She can take leave only if the employer has a specific number of employees in their workplace.
These discriminations occur in so many sectors such as clubs, schools, and in some workplaces. In Victoria, discriminate a woman because of the parental issue is against law. For more information about family medical leave act, you can call on 202-693-0051
