General thought that crosses our mind when we have to Stand Up for a while is that “Noooo! I don’t want to stand up.” If you are a regular traveler from public transport then every day when you see the whole universe sitting in the metro/bus and you have to stand up you would be like “Not again!!”. Folks extend your boundaries of knowledge and know that standing could actually benefit your health. I know it sounds a bit weird but various studies conducted by some known international institutes have proved this fact that standing up for a while actually improves health.
- Burning FAT
When we sit like a couch potato on our comfortable bean bags, sofa bed and uncomfortable chairs, our body’s metabolism tends to slow down due to which our body fat does not burn. But tables turn when we stand up for a while. Our body metabolism works a bit faster and burns fat present in our body. This happens because of the enzymes that are present in our blood vessels.
- Reduces Blood Sugar Levels
Usually, after a meal, we lay down or just sit there for a long time which makes us feel lethargic and sleepy. A study was conducted in an office where some employees were made to stand for while after lunch and some were made to sit. When results came out it was shown that people who were standing after a meal had lower blood sugar levels than those who were sitting.
- Lowers the risk of Back Pain
People who sit for a long time are more prone to chronic back pains. This is because most of us sit in bad postures all day long. Standing up reduces this risk as your back has some movement and gets a relief from bad posture.
So folks, I think it’s time stand up for our own benefit and include this in your regular routine. For example, you could make a routine to stand up for 15 min after your lunch or you could take a stroll downstairs. Another way is taking a 3-4mins break after 90mins or as per your convenience. Standing is a lot easy task than maintaining a gym routine.
